I am wondering what can be done about the step mom wanting your children to call her mom and stuff.
Thanks, carolyn

Are you called "Mom" or "Mother" or what by your kids? Do you have some ideas on what step-parents should be called, say, by first name?
(Please don't piggyback your question onto someone else's thread, or it may not get seen. The solution is to start your own new thread which I have done for you.)

Most call them mom and dad, that is the norm. What did you want to be called or have them called.

This will come up again later when your children are married and have in-laws. My mil told me early on to call her "Mom." I thought to myself, "No way, Hosea. I have only one mom and she's not you. I will not disrespect my own mother by calling you mom when I hardly know you."
Over the years, after never calling her anything but just always looked at her when I addressed her or referred to her as my husband's mother, I finally call her Mom B. I still don't believe she has earned that title of "mom," but I guess her age (92) and my 44 years of marriage have finally softened me.
