My sister is 7 months into a 2 year probation for possession. Let me add that this is her FIRST ever offense of any sort and prior to this she didn't even have so much as a speeding ticket. She initially was placed on probation in Arkansas, but soon after moved to Tenn.(and had her prob transferred) where her husband had family and a job. She has complied with all her requirements and fees etc. She has had her license reinstated (as they were suspended for 6 months) She has been clean from "meth" for nearly a year, as she was in rehab a few months before she actually rec'd the sentence. Well, ALL of her family is in Arkansas and her P.O will not let her have a pass PERIOD! She has only asked for a pass twice once to attend her 3 year old grandchilds birthday (which was denied) and now she has asked to be able to come for Thanksgiving. She called her PO for 3 weeks and left multiple messages in attempts to get a pass, and finally she spoke with her today and her PO told her in no uncertain terms that she WILL never get a pass unless its for court or if someone dies. Of course my sister questioned her and she told her "well you choose to have your probation sent to Tenn, and you moved here so I don't really care if you get to see your family or not" I was under the impression if you were in good standings and complying with the terms of the prob. That the PO would normally grant a pass. Why wouldn't she let her come for a holiday visit? It's a 2 hour drive for christ sake! I feel like she is being treated unfairly! How can I help her? Please advise
