How can I trace my dead mother's bank accounts? My mother suffered from Ms and passed away in April 1999. My sister had control of my mothers accounts and also my fathers money who passed away on dec 1983 he was a seaman for 40 years and until my mothers death in 1999 she was receiving his seamans pension. When my mother was dying my sister refused me and my older brother to look into her accounts as I believe she had defrauded us. Is there any way we can go back and trace the movements of the monies as I know all my mothers accounts.

Bank account information would be in the will, and if a lawyer or executor/executrix were unvolved, in their notes as well.

At this late date I doubt it. If you sister was executrix of the estate and she probated the estate that would be part of public record. If she didn't, then you should have acted at the time. The moment she refused to show you your mother's financial records was when you should have acted. After 10 years reproducing those records will be difficult if not impossible.

Well, the banks probably still have the records, but of course would not release them absent a subpoena or to the executor. If a probate case has not been instituted, one could probably still be filed.
