I am guardian to a nephew. It was the right choice when his mother died. However, circumstances have changed 14 yrs later. He has been given every opportunity in his life to succeed in a normal environment but, has chosen to be a "GhettoPunk" as he has been branded by his former schoolmates. He has been in trouble with the law for drugs and violence at home. He has no concerns for nothing or anyone in his life.He is a constant threat to our family and my other children as they are tourmented by older students who know my nephew... Other family memebers want no part. What do I have to do to terminate this life threatening guardianship in NY... he needs to go ASAP...

A child is not something you dispose of when it becomes inconvenient. Depending on the terms of the guardianship you accepted, you may not be able to end it.

Don't get me wrong, I do understand how this guardianship may have become toxic to your family. And I do understand how you may need to to remove that toxic influence. But that means trying to get your nephew what he needs. That could mean juvenile detention, it could mean professional counseling. But it is unlikely that you will be able to just cast him loose.

In any case, I would consult an attorney to determine your rights and responsibilities in this situation.

Agreed, You will may not be able to. Where is his father in all of this, you said his mother died, since the father would be the one who should have taken custody.
