She is my good friend for over more than a year and I fell in love with her some 6 months back. Now I've always wanted to express my love and I waited for around 3 months to propose to her because I didn't know how she would take it. The day I planned to propose to her one of my seniors took her out. It broke my heart. Then after two days I asked her how serious are you about that, she said "I'm very serious". I couldn't take the pain anymore, so after another 3 days I told her about my feelings for her. She was first shocked, then she said I like him very much but I like you too, she then said that "i always liked your company,I always wanted to spend some time with you, I like being with you, but I never thought that you were ever interested in love. the other guy has been asking me out for almost 6 months. If he had not come into the picture and you would have proposed me, I would've certainly said yes." Then I told her I would wait for you all my life. The next day I saw her being a little uncomfortable with me, but at the same time I can see her happy with that guy, and to note: that guy flirts with every girl in my department.

So, what should I do now? Please help me out, I'm going through very hard times and I love her so much.

Anyone who says (in essence) that if the other man had not come into his life she would have accepted your marriage proposal is incredibly callous and unfeeling, perhaps cruel.

I'm a little confused about your dates - she's been your friend for over a year, you fell in love with her 6 months ago... and then you waited 3 months to tell her so - ?

I think as difficult as it is and as painful as it would be that you should walk away. I always find it very difficult to believe that one person is in love with another person and the first person doesn't realize it. Are you sure she didn't know your feelings and just didn't want to acknowledge them?

I'm amazed that a business allows its employees to date. I've seen people fired for exactly that, even when the firing excuse had to be made up because the person was totally competent. Businesses tend to not want these situations in the workplace.
