I have a 4 month old puppy, and need some help with house training. Wondering if anyone has any tips for this. Thank you for any help I get

You could bring your shih tzu to the same spot(prefably outside or on newspapers) to do its business. You should bring him to potty after meals, drinking water, naps, first thing in the morning and midday. Leave a little bit of scent of its feces on the spot and it will guide him back(doesnt work all the time though, especially for my toy poodle puppy). Try to detect signs like circling on one spot and sniffing purposefully around(especially when you are playing with it and it starts stiffing and leaving the game). You could also buy your shih tzu a crate that is not too big for it(enough space to lie down, turn around and contain some chew toys). Your shih tzu is unlikely to urinate or defecate in his "den". Control and establish a schedule for him to go potty. Your shih tzu would gradually get used to the schedule. If you bought your shih tzu puppy from a pet store, it might be more difficult as pet store puppies are trained to do their business in their sleeping places. Remember, praise exuberantly when your puppy gets it right, occasionally give it a treat, but not always as it is not healthy for your puppy. Hope this helps! I'm still potty training my puppy too, and he doesn't always gets it correct! :)
