My Sears Craftman riding 18hp mower will run for a little while then it dies.Like it stops getting fuel.I hold my hand over carb. Leaving a little gap and it seems to run. Would it be a bad fuel pump?

Or a clogged fuel filter. Pull the fuel line right at the carb and turn over the engine. Do you get spurts of fuel or no?
