I recall reading a book where one part of story tells of a rogue Catholic priest who blesses a large pitcher of wine, using his powers as a priest to turn the wine into the blood of Christ. Another priest, realizing what the first priest has done, consumes all of it right away to save it from being misused or desecrated, which seems to be the intention of the first priest. The second priest dies right after drinking it from what I guess would be alcohol poisoning. The second priest knew the risk he was taking to his own life by consuming all of it, but under the circumstances, did it anyway out of love for the precious blood of Christ.
I'm pretty sure I didn't dream this up, but have asked around and no one I've talked to has ever heard of this event and I would like to find out what book it is from. I've read many old classics and I suspect it is from one of them, but I've looked through the books I thought it may be from, but can't find it. Can you help?
