I must have seen the film at some point before the mid 90s. Was at a sleepover and older brother was watching it with his friends and we only saw bits and pieces.

Parts I remember are people walking down a hall and the painting(s) seemed to have come alive. At some point someone gets sucked into a painting and there is some sort of rescue mission if I'm not mistaken. Some key images I recall are an ape and heavy usage of glass objects (maybe weaponry).

This description is awful and it's possible I'm confusing images but does anyone know of any scifi/action film where people go into another dimension or something via a painting or something similar?
