My daughter flushed a toy down her toilet last night. Needless to say, the toilet has been flushed since. I plunged immediately after she did it, and the toilet seemed fine. Today? Not the case. When flushed, the bowl fills up with water and has to be plunged down. PLEASE help me. I am not working and Christmas is coming, so I need to save all the money that I possibly can.

It is either caught in the toilet itself, or in the pipe. There is a curve in the toilet and some items can get caught there.
If you can't see it and pull it out ( not push in further into the pipe). You take the toilet up and see if you can see the toy from the bottom of the toilet.

If not it will be logged in the pipe and you can clean out the pipe though the open toilet pipe. My guess is most likely still in the toilet.

We tried using a wire hanger and it wouldn't move well through all the twists and turns. I read about the fish hook method and we tried that, too. It wouldn't even go down the toilet when it was flushed. When flushed the water is slowly draining out of the bowl. Do you know where we can find step by step instructions to take up the toilet?

I'd try a CLOSET AUGER here first... available at home depot... and see if you can pull the toy back through the toilet.

If that fails to work here is a video on toilet installation so you can lift your toilet and get that toy out... ;)

Good luck!

Please, follow Mark's advice. 5' auger is the tool you want to use. The toy is most likely lodged in the trap of the toilet. Let us know how it went. Back to you. Milo

The auger should do it but I have another route that has worked for me in the past. Get yourself a treble hook at a sporting goods store and attach about 2' of line, drop in the toilet holding the lines end, pull back. Standard Treble Hooks (http://www.barlowstackle.com/Standard-Treble-Hooks-C77.aspx) Don't use a big hook, small will do. You can always pull the toilet, its not a big project.

Ballengerb, we already tried the fish hook and it wouldn't even flush down the toilet. Thank youMilo and Mark. We will give it a try when we can afford to purchase one and let you guys know how it goes!

Great vid Mark. But man, that guy drinks a lot of coffee. And I think that cap could have used another "wrap" :) And holy shirt, he cut that bolt off way to easy. Overall, loved it.

Thanks Lee... :) Overall I am almost never happy with the videos I find/post but they are at least a basic visual for the people looking for help.

If you care to discuss how to post them just let me know, OK?

Good day!

PS: DLB, you probably didn't try the TREBLE HOOK (see image) Ballenger posted on. Here, I think the additional hooks will add weight and help to sweep th ehook into the drain. It may still be worth trying as I know he has had some success with these hooks... ;) Just FYI

I actually think you post the best vids. Heck, If I made a video, I could pick it apart for days :) Just having some fun picking on the things I know you see too. He He. Keep them coming. You are correct, visuals help more than words ever could. Great job man.

I am still planning on a soldering video, but probably won't happen until winter time or so... ;)

We can pick the hell out of that then... LOL!

I have a feeling, that a video actually made by you may be a very hard thing to find flaw with.

Holy crap, I think my nose just turned brown.
