About three days ago I washed a blanket that has a lot of green and black in it. Since then I had to clean the screen on the cold water intake into the washer(we only have cold water going into it). We have a private well so I have to clean it occasionally. Since washing that blanket I now have green and black fibers coming out of the cold water faucets only and the tiolets. The water coming out does not smell bad and is clear except for the blanket fibers. What would cause this? We were having problems with the washer not working right but rent-a-center gave us a "loaner" for now and are repairing the other.

There shouldn't be any cross connection in a house. It almost sounds like you have a leak in a septic line that is somehow getting into the well water. Are they in line or close by each other?

I am not sure. About a month ago we had a complete blockage in the "t" that goes into the septic tank, It was replaced and everything was great until a few days ago. There is nothing else in the water that I can see or smell, just the fibers from the blanket.

Here's what I would do. Put a good dose of red or blue food coloring in a toilet and flush it. If your well water turns red or blue, you are somehow getting waste water into the well. Very bad situation as ecoli is present in your well water.

Thank you for your suggestion, I just called a lab and it is super cheap to test my well. I think I need a report to get my landlord to actually do something about it. She is not the most quick to fix important issues. Thank you for the help!
