I Got A Baby Puppy one Day Ago. We brought her home and she seemed happy. We got worried about her when she wouldn't eat or drink and brought her back to the original owner. The original owner said that it was perfectly normal and that by the next day she would running around the house.

But, all my little Yorkie has been doing is sleeping. She will not do anything else. She hasn't had any water or food at all. I am worried sick and I have read some of the other related threads, but none of them were helpful.

I don't want to lose my puppy, I am already attached.

Please, someone help me :(

How old is she?

Your pup is a BABY. Babies sleep a lot. She misses her mom and her family. She doesn't have their warm bodies to snuggle with. She's now surrounded by strangers who can be scary-sounding with big voices.

Pretend you are this pup and imagine how she feels.

It could be anything from a change in food, vaccinations, new surroundings and stress all the way up to and including being sick. I have a few questions/hints:

Are you using the same food and water the original owner was using? Often, a new dog will eat the food it had been eating in a new surrounding, but hold off on new food while getting acclimated.

Has the dog had vaccinations yet?

Was it brought to the vet for the first checkup? I do that whenever I get a new dog. Right to the vet for a complete checkup and a baseline for good health.

Some have suggested to use Pedialyte mixed half and half with water since the dog isn't drinking, which is more serious in the short term. I tried personally mixing one part pedialyte, one part beef broth with one part water, and it broke the spell of one of my new dogs.
