Hi, I'm 19 and live in Indiana. On September 1st I sent $60.00 to a woman (lives in Maryland) for the commission of a custom Halloween costume. She runs an online business. October 6th she informed me she couldn't make the costume and would return my money that evening. I still haven't received my money back, even after many messages and many promises to return since then.

Can I take any kind of legal action against her to get my money back? I'm learning my lesson and do feel stupid for what I did. I'm very lost in finding answers about small claims court.

Thanks for any help you can give. Even just pointing me in the right direction for answers. Ask if I missed some information.

First off you need to find out what is really up with this person. If she has done this to more then one person then she may be guilty of a crime. This could have been her scam. Either way it needs to be reported.

Part of the problem your going to have is that your in separate states. So collection may be difficult unless the have insurance.

That's why the first step is to find out who your dealing with exactly.

Google "Maryland small claims court". You get this link: District Court of Maryland - How to File a Small Claim (http://www.courts.state.md.us/district/forms/civil/dccv001br.html).

You may sue her in court, you have that right. Did she have a web site that showed costumes and other items she makes

How did you send her the money, pay pal ? Off eBay ?
You did not send her money on western union did you ?
