Question 1. - Could a severely depressed person still be capable of understanding and carrying out simple instructions ? - - Question 2. - Could a severely depressed person also be able to report to a dead end job to work on a regular and continuing basis ? - - Pleae e-mail answers to - - >Removed<

The answer to your first question is an unequivocal yes. As to the second... probably so.

Major depression is a complex pathology and must be assessed individually. Not as a fixed monolithic entity. In general terms the above would hold true.
