Can a 17-year-old child decide if he wants to live with another family in the state of Tennessee?

In most cases, you only have to be 16 years old to be emancipated, which means you can live on your own with the same rights as an 18 year-old. However, you do have to be able to prove to a judge you are able to support yourself (ie have a place to stay, transportation, food etc.) I would look up rules of emancipation in Tennessee to check for sure! It is a big step though, I'd be sure to do a lot of research.

The simple answer is no you can not just move out with another family.

You need to wait until your at least 18.

Until you are 18 or emancipated you cannot move out. Since you are 17 it is unlikely you will get emancipated before you are 18.
