My daughter is renting on long island ny she wants to move. She rent month to month and pays her rent the 1st of the month. Does she have to give 30 day notice on the first of the month or any day as long as it totals 30 days?

My daughter is renting on long island ny she wants to move. She rent month to month and pays her rent the 1st of the month. Does she have to give 30 day notice on the first of hte month or any day as long as it totals 30 days?
The notice must include a rental cycle. If the rent is due on the 1st of the month, she needs to give notice on or before the last day of the previous month. If she wants to leave the end of February, she has waited to long to give notice.
