Hi I have a commercial electric heater that requires a 240v plug was told at homedepot to use 10-3 wire and a 30amp breaker so that's what I have but don't know how to wire the plug because it only has 3 screws in a why shape and they are all silver but 10-3 wire has a black red white and ground wire .Can anyone help with this please...

Two of the terminals should be brass, for the black and red live wires.

What is the make and model number of the plug you have?

Did it come with any instructions?

Why 10/3? Does your heater require a neutral?

If the screws are all silver it tells me this could be a twist lock receptacle, but the three silver makes me wonder if you have the right one.
It wouldn't be the first time a HD employee gave bad advice.
