I am 20 years old and I had pretty regular periods before I was hospitalized at the age of 17, and since then they have stopped completely. I started having lower back pain as well. I have only had two periods since then and they are VERY heavy. I'm not sexually active and I'm not on birth control. What could be going wrong?

Why do you say in your opening statement 'not caused by menopause' you are no where near that stage yet. Why were you hospitalized at age l7? Sorry, but you will have to tell us more of your history. In order to have a determination you will have to see a specialist, an OBYgyn, or at first your general doctor. We don't diagnose on AMHD.

Pancreatitis. I had several tests where they took pictures of all of my insides. They determined that I have delayed gastric emptying. I'm just not sure whether or not the tests could have had anything to do with my problem.

I'm sure the tests themselves don't have anything to do with your periods.

Have you had your hormones checked? You should start with a gynocologist to have a complete hormonal workup.
