We just purchased a new home. Build was completed June 2010. Purchased June 2011. No one else has lived in the home. We are having some electrical problems. In our kitchen area, when we would plug different items in, then turn the on, the breaker for that room would trip. In the bedroom, if we had on the television, lights and baby monitor, if we woulf flip on the can lights, the power would trip in the bedroom. None of these items were plugged into the same outlet. We also have a problem in the dining room when we plug something in and turn it on, the power trips in the living room, but the dining room power still works! Our builder has been out several times and has replaced all the electrical outlets, and switches and smoke detectors. Also has replaced the breakers. He has told me that with the new breakers they are more sensitive than the older ones. Breaker box has also been checked for moisture. Attic has also been checked. Not sure what else to do. Very frustrated! Any advice?

What brand of breaker box is currently installed? There are some breaker boxes that are just plain criminal.

I am not sure what panels are "criminal", perhaps Forsaken can elaborate.

My advice is to have the builder bring in a qualified electrician to check the wiring. I suspect the breakers are working fine and there is some problem with the wiring.

I will guess these are Arc Fault breakers? They should have a red test button on the front?

The builder, if he is not an electrician, may have created more problems just by changing parts, causing loose and miswired connections.

There could be miswired splices, damaged wiring by mice, nails in the wiring, etc. so many reasons for the multiple problems your having.

Difficult to troubleshoot over the Internet without actually being there.
