Pictures are pink tinted, not always, but frequently. Have changed battery, adjusted settings. No luck. It is a Nikon cool pix digital. Any suggestions what could be wrong? Thanks

It could be a couple different things...

Maybe the white balance is off... Perhaps the "Creative style" (This is a Sony term,it refers to the way you take pictures; black & White, sepia, "vivid", portrait, twilight, etc.) There could just be a color cast over the sensor... In other words, maybe one of the 3 color filters (Red, Green, and blue) aren't as strong as they should be...

The truth is that color casts happen all the time... Several, if not ALL, photo editing software have preset filters to eliminate color casts and make the photos look correct.

How long have you had the camera? If you are still within the return policy then simply go in and exchange it for another camera. Read some reviews of your model online to see if it is a common problem. If so, then exchange for a "comparable" camera. Maybe another Nikon, perhaps a Sony, or Canon... There are others that are great too, but I always recommend those 3 brands over the others... (Thats just me... )

If you can't return or exchange then try out the software... I think Windows Live photo editing software has color cast removal tools, and its free to... Maybe you have a version of Photoshop lying around the house or installed on the computer... Corel comes pre-installed on some machines... "www.getpaint.net" is a free photo editing software...

Or, if you can't return and you don't want to deal with editing your photos, then your next best bet is to buy a new camera...

You can go retail, or look around your local area for used cameras... I buy stuff from people on craigslist all the time... Just be sure to be safe when meeting people... Always a neutral, populated, location like a starbucks or mcdonalds... And maybe take a friend...

I hope this helps... :)
