My name is Akbar Qureshi. My question is that I wanted to learn Quran by meaning. The only thing is I feel more comfortable listen Quran translation instead of reading. But when I listen I put my full consentration. So am I doing a right job or not in terms of deeds (Aamal). Or reading traslation is more beneficial then listening in front of Allah.

Akbar Qureshi,

Let me welcome you to this beautiful site!

About your question, I would like to first remind you that there are two thoughts in theology, even as most of the scholars believe that the religious sermons give power, while the translation or transliteration only help to understand the meaning. The first and the more orthodox viewpoint believes in power of the word, as uttered by the seers. For them, the words, whatever they mean, have power in themselves, literally. They do not want to go away from the purity of the hymns, as they are scribbled in holy books.

The moderates believe in meaning and implementation.
