Okay so I'm currently 40 weeks&6days pregnant! My due date was October 16 2011 which was confirmed in early pregnancy! So just a few days ago I went in for an ultrasound and the baby measured 3 weeks behind the original due date putting my due date now at November 10th! The baby is 7lbs 8oz in weight. I'm scheduled to be induced wed the 26. I'm worried because I don't know if the doctor will change my due date even though she said everything looks great baby is very active she moves a lot. The amniotic fluid levels are normal. I also have a 19month old son & he was born exactly on his due date & he weighed 8lbs 5oz. The ultrasound tech said the baby measures in the right percentiles but its still 3 weeks behind should I be worried

Hi lovely2606,

While your son was born on his due date, few babies actually are. As you know, there is a window of several weeks at the end of a pregnancy that is considered normal to give birth in.

If everything looks great, then there really isn't a medical reason to induce. It is unlikely that your doctor will change the due date again, and if you do not go into labour naturally before the 26th, you will most likely be induced as planned.

Dating with ultrasound at the end of pregnancy is not exact, so it can be perfectly normal to be off a bit either side. If they were truly concerned about baby's well being, they would have scheduled the induction sooner.

Your baby falls within the average for how far along you are thought to be. Perhaps your due date was off slightly to begin with. Since they apparently aren't really concerned, try not to worry.

Pamper yourself these last few days... rest and relax... well, as much as you can with a 19 month old!
