View Full Version : Wedding Videographer, not listening to clients' requests.

I got married six months ago. Only today did I managed to receive my wedding video. Am extremely unhappy with the work done. They (videographers) completely disregarded our requests and stuff we wanted them to cover in the vid.
The contract we have with them, has clauses pertaining only to 'photography' but NOT videography, and says only 15 hours of Photography and Videography.
My question is, Can I claim raw footage of my wedding from them? And can I sue them for loss of time and for mental stress caused by their delay in sending the video and then making errors in editing, in spite of my telling them numerous times through e-mails what I wanted in the video?
Thank you.

This is a legal question, not a question about weddings BUT the contract you have with them is within the four edges of the paper it's written on, nothing more and nothing less. They are bound to do whatever that contract calls for.
You cannot sue for mental stress arising out of a contract matter. I don't know what you mean about "claiming" raw footage from them. Can you ask for the raw, uncut version? Certainly. Do they have to give it to you? That's their choice. You also cannot sue them for the time you've spent making things "right."
Could you get someone else to edit and then sue them for the editing costs? Sure. Will you win? Not unless the video is specifically covered in the contract.

First, I moved this to the appropriate forum.
Second, it is not unusual for several months to elapse before getting your weddingract. Pics, especially video.
Third, as Judy said, you can only sue for non performance of what is listed in the contract.

Agreed, you can only sue for what is allowed or not allowed in the contract. And I agree with Scott a few months is not unreasonable about of time for professional photos and video.

I was actually in Small Claims Court when a woman sued to have her wedding AND reception a second time because the photos (as presented to her) were "unacceptable." Needless to say, she lost.
