My niece brought a box dye from her local chemist, she had decided to dye her light blonde hair to a warm brown but unfortunately it never turned out how she expected it too. The result colour was a dark brown washed out look with green tones. She cannot afford to go to the hair dressers so can you offer any advice on how to make the overall colour a warm brown without the green please x

Those boxes of haircolor always turn out a bit darker than you expected them to. If it is greenish, she may have had some buildup on her hair of chlorine, or the color may have had some ashy undertones in it. Try to use a deep cleansing shampoo with the juice of one lemon, and an ounce of vinegar. Keep that on for up to 30 minutes. Then deep condition the hair with a good hot oil, or a deep reconstructor. After this has been done she can reapply the haircolor, only this time pay close attention to the shade, and make sure it is a natural or neutral shade and not an ASH color.
