I just recently purchased a home and noticed that I have dirt coming out of the tub faucet. It does not come out of the bathroom sink or the kitchen sink, just the tub. I thought it would go away on it's own because the house was empty for 9 months when I moved in but it does not appear to be getting any better. My appraisal says that I am on public water and I believe the hot water heater was installed about 4 years ago. Any ideas on what could be wrong or what do to do fix it? Thanks!

Are you sure it's dirt? If you had dirt in your system every faucet would have dirty water. Try this. Turn the water off and open up the valve and remove the cartridge. Now turn the water back on to flush out the supplies and valve body. Did the water run clear when you flushed> Reassemble and test. Better now? If not click back and tell me. Good luck, Tom

How do I take the valve off and remove the cartridge? It is the faucet in the tub. Does it just screw off or something? Sorry, never done this before. Thanks!
