I had my ex-brother in law who works for a York dealer convert my old furnace/swamp cooler over. He did a terrible job doing the install so we had a falling out because of it. He also lost the receipt for the unit so I don't know how to get the warranty work done on it by anyone else. I don't want to call him so I am stuck trying to troubleshoot it myself. I opened the front panel and I can see the igniter zapping and sometimes it ignites and everything is fine for awhile. I am having a hard time seeing the pilot light but I do see the rod turn bright orange when it is going to work. I don't know if it is just coincidence but it seems to light better when I have the panel off. When it doesn't light it just blows out cold air and flashes the code #8 until I reset the power. After I reset the power it will usually ignite on the next try but not always. I adjusted the pilot screw thinking maybe it would help but I can't tell if it has. I was thinking about trying the gas pressure reg next. Once the igniter lights it runs great. I am getting cold and frustrated. Thank you to anyone who could shed some light on the problem.
