If you mean are there any guidelines for avoiding children born with birth defects when relatives marry really only applies to first cousins marrying, but if the family gene pool is fairly empty of children with birth defects that isn't likely to happen. Amongst european royality in thetwenty first century it was common practice to actually keep the blood line clean. However, hemeophilia, the lack of blood clotting disorder was erroneously attributed to Queen Victoria's lineage when in actually fact had nothing to do with the actual problem of birth defects because this disorder was automatically carried through the female bloodline. Just a case in point.

To answer your question, if there has been no children born with birth defects in your family that you know of, there isn't a likely chance it will happen with the union you are describing.

So you are with your cousin? Your moms brothers daughter?

Society in general have made a relationship with a first cousin considered wrong in many areas. But most current research I was ready a few months ago, says that the risk of birth defects amount first cousins is lower that was considered years ago. Most of the ideas of this being wrong is more from moral culture issues.

But there is nothing to prevent birth defects if it is within your genes to happen.
