I have had lingering lower left back pain for a long time. MRI's can't find anything wrong. It hurts to turn over in bed, lower into sitting position, get up from sitting position. I have had a herniated disk, but don't feel that is the problem now. I also have pain in my left hip where the leg joint meets around into the groin area. I'm tired of taking muscle relaxants, and pain meds to ease the discomfort. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What has worked for me, is every night, I tie my feet to one end of the bed and hang off the other and push against it, so that I stretch my back out, and then go to sleep. This was painful when I first started, but after two weeks, I worked it out. If I start hurting in the day, will do the same. I have told this to others and they have had excellent results also.

Consult a pain management specialist. They work wonders for back pain. My wife's pain from a broken back was over in two visits, the pain had been unbearable for months.

Massage therapy has helped me out immensely! I have a local massage therapist whom I see once a month who does a really deep, intense massage in a 90 minute session - which costs about $100 per month. I went from taking muscle relaxers 2-3 times per week to taking one every three or four months with just the massage treatment over a two month span. I haven't managed to afford a trip in since the end of March, but with the exception of the days when I've purposely "pushed the envelope", I've found the pain at an acceptable level.

Good luck!
