Our house was built 14 years ago. Since two weeks ago we have been getting a very strong urine or ammonia smell in our main bedroom. This bedroom is attached to a toilet/shower/bathroom en-suite and the strangest thing is that the smell is not in the bathroom. My husband and I use the toilet at night only. We are also aware that there is a sewerage pipe running along the back of our house on the other side of the fence, which is about 2 metres from the wall of our bedroom. Could there be a leak in this pipe? The smell is coming from somewhere and its starting to become unbearable. Please advise... Thank you.

Hi and welcome to The Plumbing Page of AMHD. Have you checked along this outside sewer line for signs of moisture? Do you sleep with your windows open? Does it smell outside at all? Is there any place in the bedroom where the smell's the strongest? More details please. Back to you, Tom
