Hello!
The diverter knob will not stay up and even if I try with all my strength to hold it up, only part of the water is being diverted into the shower head, and lots is still coming through the tap into the bath.
I have tried to look for advice on the internet I cannot find anything that talks about this problem when the diverter knob is attached to the taps and not the wall.
Please help!
Thanks.

Agree with John. Replace the complete spout and you will be all set.

The reason you can't find a article on repairing a diverter spout is that they're so cheap we simply replace them. Look down at the bottom of the spout next to the wall. If there's a small square hole with a Allen Head screw you have a sliup-on spout ,(see image) If not then you have a threaded diverter spout, (see image) Go into HD or Lowe's and replace it. Good luck, Tom

The spout and the taps are all connected together, so I guess I need to replace the whole thing?
Thanks again

The spout and the taps are all connected together,
Never saw a diverter spout and valve all in one piece. Can you post a picture? Regards, Tom

Oh, Ive seen them, usually in trialer houses. Never worked on one though. It may be possible to repair the diverter, but I just can't say for sure.

Sorry took me a while to sort out a photo!
I'm hoping I've attached it successfully...

Not sure where to start on that one. May be time for a new fuacet. Can you access the under side of the faucet to change it out. Or if you can find a brand name anywhere, you could contactl the manufacturer and send them that pic and see if they do indeed make a repair kit for the diverter.
