My question is I have a problem to solve. X+Y=10 AND X-Y=6 by elimination but I don't understand how you can solve it by elimination because the signs are different

Simply add them together. The fact that the signs of y are different makes it easier.

\begin{array}x+y=10\\x-y=6\end{array}

Add the second row to the first and eliminate the y.
