I have a 50 amp gfci in the panel box and a sub panel with a 20 amp gfci and a 30 amp gfci. I am told that I have to get rid of the 50 amp gfci or it will not work. It will continue to trip. Is this true

We need to start back at the beginning, please.
What are the electrical requirements of the hot tub?
That has to be known before we can make any suggestions.
Also, we need to know whether the 30 and the 20 amp breakers are already being used by other circuits.

Is this trueRedundant GFIs will not automatically trip each other, contrary to some popular, yet incorrect, belief.
That said, I would change the 50 to a regular breaker.
