Almost every red wine you will buy in the store is at least 2-3 years old. You don't need to age it anymore.

There are indeed reds that will not benefit from aging.
As a rule of the, the more full bodied the longer it will keep.
So a light weight Gamay tends to be made for earlier drinking, but a quality Ridge Zinfandal will enjoy several years proper aging
