Older unit has a standing pilot. New couple still doesn't sustain pilot. Old Coleman unit. Can I rebuilt gas valve or should I just purchase one. Would prefer to build it.

I`ve never met a gas valve that could be rebuilt, neither have I met anyone that had the ability to rebuild one,, good luck

Its not worth trying to rebuild the gas valve but did you check to make sure it was not just a dirty pilot orifice. If the pilot flame is strong and hitting the thermocouple and after replacing the thermocouple, I would say you have a bad valve. If you have 2 wires that plug in under the thermocouple at the valve you may have a open limit.

I`ve found that about 95% of people never write back to tell us if any comments were right or not, I give short answers and wait to see if anyone bothers to continue with asking for help

Sorry for the delay.. work and school at night...
Yes... T-Top was right on the money... Last night, I cleaned area and redirected the flame , also, put a new thermocouple since I was in there. It has been working great.
I really appreciate it. I plan on coming to the sight and reading other situations that may help me in the future.. All of your participation on this site is very much appreciated.. Thanks again.
