Live in Arkansas, pled guilty to class b felony, theft of property, 1st & only offense, got 5 yr probation, charged June 03,probation was finished June 08, will this show up on background, will graduate from college next year, have been avoiding jobs that do background, have had several jobs since then, but background checks have become more prevelent making hard to find work, any advice?

Yes it will definitely show up, any felonies you have been charged with within a 5 year time of being finished i.e. probation will be on there. The live scan will send you a packet asking a lot of questions and you can ask to be excluded for good reason, just be honest with your job, and it sounds better saying that you made a mistake and have learned from it. It looks a lot better if you tell them first

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Unless the terms of your probation were that the incident would be expunged then it will show up as a conviction. But with a first offense, especially for someone young, its very possible you had such a clause. You need to check the terms of your probation and you may need to take some action to get it expunged.

On the other hand, if you tell employers about this with an explanation it may not be so bad. If there is no expungement clause, you may be able to petition the court to get it expunged.
