Have a 98 z24 caviler. Replace ICM/coils twice already.. 2nd time(3months ago) with All AC parts. The other day start the car a loud band came from engine like a misfire and puff of smoke from ex pipe. Try again car started fine. Today was driving and ETS flash on for sec car feel like was going to cut out... I think it's the ICM Mode again, I have no idea why then are burning up so fast, theses things should last more than couple months. I don't have any clue why, neither does the mech. Please Help

Heat is the ICM killer. Ensure it's mounted properly and be sure to apply any called for silicone heat transfer compound to the ICM. Additionally, shop for warranty as well as price. Apply dielectric grease on all plug and coil connections. I would only use the properly gapped ACDelco plugs in your car.

Do you have any links on how to install the ICM? Also what is part number for the AC delco plugs with the properly gape needed.
Thanks for fast response.. :)
Ps. I have notice more heat come from my vents(with the air off) and center dash of the car. I first I thought it was just heat from sitting in the sun, but sometimes burst of heat will come out of no where.Do you think its because the ICM doesn't have enough heat transfer compound? I hear driving with the heat on helps displace some of the heat off the engine , is this true?

ACDelco 41-942 spark plugs, gap = .060 inch.
Yes, driving with the heater on acts like another radiator and helps keep the engine cooler.
Talk to a knowledgeable auto parts person about applying silicone heat transfer compound on the ICM for your car. Always disconnect the negative battery cable, prior to installing the ICM and coil.
