My daughter is 3 years of age. When she was born, I put down a man's name on the birth certificate, but he is not her father. For one reason or another, our relationship did not work out, and I am now married to her father, but his name is not on the birth certificate. How do I change it?

Please let us know where you are. In many places, you can't just put a name on the birth certificate if you aren't married, the father has to acknowledge paternity. How did you just put a name down? Furthermore, the amount of time you have to challenge paternity is limited by location, so a lot will depend on that.

I live in the Republic of Ireland and was unsure if he was the father. We were together when my daughter was born, but in my heart I knew he was not the father and ended up marrying her biological father. The non-biological father is down on her birth certificate as her father, and I want his name removed.
