Hi
I want to add a shower to my basement bathroom, currenty there is a toilet and sink.

I have a floor drain near the back wall of the current bathroom. Can I break the floor and put a y connection to this floor drain and add a shower drain? If I send some photos can you look at what I have?
I am not sure if this floor drain connects to the toilet drain through the bathroom floor.

A floor drain is the only trapped fixture in your home that doesn't require a vent. If you went that route you would have to vent the shower. If you have room to add a vent you may add a wye and connect the shower to the floor drain but be advised that the slightest partial clog in the floor drain line would send the shower discharge backing up through the lowest fixture, the floor drain. What do you wish to do? Regards, Tom
