Has it worked before?
If you have an upgraded graphics card or video card, whatever they call it nowadays, you may need to plug the monitor into a different slot. I had this problem years ago, I was plugging the monitor cable into the slot for the old graphics card, when I should have been plugging it into the new one. The monitor receives no signal from the computer so it goes into standby mode. If that's the case, look for a second connection exactly the same as the one you plugged the monitor into, it will probably be at the bottom of the back panel below all of the other connections.

Other than that, the only advice I can give you is that since the monitor works on another computer the problem is happening somewhere between the computer and its connection to the monitor, which is why my first guess is the connection issue.

Give it a try anyway, the problem could be that simple.

Good Luck

Look at the back of the CPU. Like what JoshNichols said, you may have connected the monitor to the wrong slot. If your CPU has a video card then connect your monitor there. If the monitor is already connected to the video card when this happened then remove the video card and connect the monitor to the video slot on your motherboard. You probably have a video card problem but if you are certain that your video card is OK then the problem is the setting on your bios. Hope this helps.
