Hello,
I'm 18 years old, and I have been sexually active for just over a year.
I've had just one partner, and he hasn't had sex with anyone else either.
I began having pain during intercourse about 3 months after we began having sex.
I have been on ocella for about a year and a half, and I have never had a miscarriage, abortion, or pregnancy. We didn't always use condoms, but if we did they were trojans. I went to my physician about a month after the pain began, they told me I had a yeast infection. So I took a 7 day monistat, and it seemed to clear up my symptoms a little, but not all together. 3 months later, I saw my doctor again and they said they didn't find anything wrong with me. My symptoms were extreme pain during intercourse, stringy white thick discharge that smelt of sour milk, my vagina was also very itchy. I decided to try planned parenthood, since my problem hadn't gone away. They tested me for STI's and I came out fine, no problem in that area. They then gave me an exam and told me I had bacterial vaginosis, so they prescribed me Metronidazole pills. I took the full prescription as directed and I did feel better, but there was still pain during sex and discharge. I went back to my primary doctor to get more pills thinking it may not have killed the whole infection so she prescribed the gel. That didn't help at all, I asked for the pills again and took them, the symptoms still didn't clear up. Now it's been a year after my symptoms began and I just saw a gynecologist a few days ago, and she told me my cervix, and ovaries are normal sizes, and my discharge has no irregular bacteria in it.
Over the course of the year I have taken 3 yeast infection treatments, 1 Metronidazole vaginal insertion treatment, and 3 Metronidazole pill treatments.
Just recently I have been getting cramping in my lower pelvis that is extremely painful and I haven't been healthy for a full year, I have constant discharge that I never had before I got ill, sex is very painful and this has made myself esteem drop significantly.
I'm so desperate, I don't know where to turn.
Please help.

Was your partner treated when you were diagnosed with BV? If not, it's possible that the two of you are passing it back and forth, thus causing your pain and continued symptoms.

He is going in to the doctor soon, I'll make sure to tell him

The doctors never told me about that, he not showing any symptoms so I surmised it was just my problem.
Is there any symptoms he should be showing if he had it?

I don't believe the men have symptoms as it's not a kind of STD that is passed during intercourse.

You might also want to consider the possibility of being allergic to either his sperm or possibly the latex from the condoms.

Could the symptoms of allergies show up 3 months after contact?
I thought it would be immediate
So how do they test men for bv?
