You can sue almost anyone for almost anything...

But actually winning is something else.

How about going after the person that stole the check rather than the store that cashed it. That's where the real crime occurred.

Have you done that yet, and if not why?

This is the situation on the stolen paycheck cash by someone what steps do I take? Is the employer responsible?

My name is <removed for privacy, I work under <removed for privacy>, I?m writing to ask a question and to make a complaint. On 07/07/11, I responded to an email Mrs. **** sent out for auditing help in my area. I use to work for <removed for privacy> in 2004-2006. When I responded to the email I sent my name, current address and phone number to be contacted. I assumed that Mrs. **** would have updated my information but apparently she did not. On August the 20th I attended a conference in North Carolina and was suppose to be paid for drive time and training. I thought also, it was suppose to be for mileage. I waited three weeks no paycheck. I contacted Mrs. **** several times letting her know I was never paid. She finally responded and told me that the check was not cut until 09/14/11. When I still did not receive the check 16th,17, or 18th. I called and emailed Mrs. **** letting her know I did not received it and what address did she send it to. This is when I found out it was sent to <removed for privacy>. I told Mrs.**** then I do not live at this address but I will go and see if I could track the check down but I was unsuccessful. That same day on the 19th I told Mrs. **** to stop payment on the check because I could not locate it. I also, called Cal several times and left messages concerning the check but he never responded. I was finally told by Mrs. **** to wait ten business days before placing a stop payment because it cost 27.50. If Mrs. **** stop payment when I asked her to the check would have never been cashed. I informed her that it was the wrong address and I could not locate it. So I waited ten business days and recall her and she sent me an email that she would contact Cal to stop payment and reissue the check but no check came. So it starts all over again calling and emailing about my check and finally I was told today it was cashed and it was nothing <removed for privacy> could do about getting me another check. The signature on the check doesn't match mine and the drivers license numbers don?t match. This proves that I did not cash it. I?m assuming someone at <removed for privacy> cashed it. I told Mrs. **** even if I fill out a police report that doesn't?t guarantee me my money. Its not my fault she did not updated my address or application I sent her my new address several time in emails. I completed the training and what I was suppose to do and now I can?t get compensated. I?ve emailed and called her and Cal so many times and now I can?t get my paid. Attached is some of the emails I sent her and she sent me. So what can be done? Looking at my signature and dl number on my other checks it clearly shows it was not cashed by me. Why didn't?t Cal stop payment after I told both of them the check was sent to the wrong address?
Thanks
