Hi. I really hope you can help me. I am 32 years old, trying for my second baby. The first day of my last period was 2 September 2011. Up until now no menstruation.(06 Oktober 2011). On Monday I took a home pregnancy test, it was negative. Yesterday afternoon I also took one and this morning, at first they showed one stripe indicating no pregnancy. But this morning after about an half an hour after I took the test it showed a very very light second stripe. I took out the test from yesterday and I could also see a very light second stripe. I went for a blood test, they phoned me back and told me the count is 45. (indicating very early pregnancy, about a week and they are not sure if they can tell me if I am actually pregnant). The lady told me totake blood tests in two weeks time. For someone trying to get pregnant even two days are to long to wait to have an answer... The last 2 weeks my breasts are sore. No vomiting or any other indications. I do have a thyroid problem, and started to take eltroxan from beginning September. (using 0.05 per day). Am I pregnant, or could it be my thyroid and the eltroxan ?

From what you say, you read the tests too late. Most of them need to be read within the first 10 minutes or so after taking them. Waiting any longer can give a false positive, it's called an evaporation line.

In the end, it's still too early to tell as your period isn't really considered late yet, even for the most regular woman.

I would wait a week and test again. Be sure to test using first morning urine as it is most accurate, and make sure to read the results within the first 10 minutes. After that, throw the test away as the results will be inaccurate.
