Salam , I am a revert Muslim 25 years of my life I have been a hindu .Now when I know the reality I don't believe in Hindu festivals but still I miss them .Not from the religious perspective but as a natural habitat. Is it wrong to be with my family celebrating those festivals not for the religious side of it but for the sake of being with my family? My next question is that I am still not been able to eat non vegetarian food I have tried but because of habitat with the taste I unable is there something wrong if I still remain vegetarian for some more time and keep trying till I start liking the taste ?

Walaikumalsaam warahmatullah mashallah welcome to the faith of Islam sister. You have taken a good decision.
A muslim can be a good muslim without having non veg throughout his life. Eating non veg is not obligatory but it is permissible for those who want to. So you can be a good muslim by remaining vegetarian throughout your life inshallah.
If you want to be close to your family during their religious celebrations you can do so with the intention of calling them towards to Islma. You should remember a creation is not to be obeyed if it involves disobedience to the creator. So if you wouldn't be inclined or forced to do shirk or celebrate their festival then you can inshallah go but in your heart you need to dislike celebration of such festival. In fact muslims are obliged to respect their parents even if they are non-musilms except in cases where they ask you to do any shirk. With this opportunity inshallah you can try to guide your parents towards islam, which should be your top priority. Since no child would want his parents going in hell & dying in state of kufr (disbelief).

Always do what your HEART says. In such situation do not listen to your mind because mind is always confusing but not heart.

Alhamdulillah! Welcome dear sister! I myself am new to Islam, and still learning!
Allah (swt) is most forgiving of the things we do not understand, or do not yet know.
And in a situation like this, I believe there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with spending that time with your family! I do not know ALL Hadith yet. But I find it hard to believe you would be in trouble for something like that.
If you are there to be with your family, and not to participate in their rituals, and you still make sure to take your time away to preform your daily prayers, I see no haram in this.
About the vegetables, I defer to our sister salmanmohammed. But I have yet to hear anything about it being mandatory at all.
Assalamu Alaikum!
