Can you add parentheses to your equation so we can see for sure what you mean? Just to be clear, what you wrote is this:
-\frac{1}{\tan x}-\sec x - \frac{1}{\tan x}\sec x = 2 \tan x
But I have a feeling that's not what you meant.
Also, are you trying to solve for x, or are you trying to prove a trig identity?
