I have a 10 inch Delta compound miter saw about ten years old. It was made in China. The last time I used it the electric brake did not work and I am wondering if it should be trashed or have a professional fix it? I could also keep a piece of scrap wood handy and stop it with an unpowered cut. Any thoughts?

You can replace that saw for about $200. I am down to 7 finger so I'd spend the money and buy new.

Check all the bolts and make sure they are tight. My saw this the same thing and the blade was loose.

Buy another one and look for the "Made in the USA" label.
