I recently installed a Florestone shower receptor in my bathroom. I removed the old one of the same model as it was dirty and out of level. I leveled using sand mix and it is in solid. After installing the pan I waited a day to let the mortar cure up a bit. I lubed the Wedge Lok gasket up with dish soap and slid it down over the old drain pipe (ABS). Before doing so I did not notice any dirt or soap scum on the pipe. The gasket went on with just a bit of friction. I was able to push it down level with the top of the pipe.

My problem is this: The gasket appears to be a very tight fit on one side of the pipe but not as tight on the other. I can just barely slip the end of my fingernail between the gasket and the pipe on the loose side. This is not the case on the tighter side of the gasket. My guess is that the pipe is slightly crooked. I removed the gasket and reinstalled doing my best to keep the pipe as straight as possible. There is a finished ceiling under the shower so I can't view it from the bottom. What should I look for with this seal. I want to make sure that there will be no leaks. Is there anything obvious that I should look out for or am I being over paranoid? I wouldn't call it a gap but just "not as tight as I would like it"
