We don't know your general medical situation, other meds, nutrition, and so on, and your doctor is the one to hear this. Diabetics do have circulation problems in the extremeties (arms and legs). Even healthy people will have numb hands and feet at times when they have slept a certain way, but this is more serious.

You should see your doctor as soon as possible. AS joypulv says, this is more serious, especially as your hands changed their color.

Base on your clinical picture you seems suffering from circulation problem on both your hand and let me thinking about disease of spasm of arteries which supple the blood to your hands. This spasm status could last for minutes to hours. When the arteries chocking the symptoms exactly as you described but when the spasm gone the symptoms gone. This problem call Raynaud's phenomenon and disease. The etology is multiple, hardly mention all here you can easy to find it out.Although you are a poor control diabetic patient and very famous to develop diabetic vescular complication but the picture is different the blocking the arteries is slowly and will not release in few hours.Go to your doctor to find out more.
