So I've had my braces on since Feb. 2009. The orthodontist told me my teeth look great and that I'm getting my "final wires" on October 10th of this year. All of my friends who had braces on previously had them on for some say 1 month, some say 2, and some said 3. But one of my friends had braces for 8 months, and they said she got her final wires 2 months ago & shell still have them for about 4 months from now. I really want to get them off soon, does anyone know when I'm going to be getting them off?

Also, I have a lisp from them- well I want to think its from them. I never used to have one before I got them, at least I don't think so. And once my bro got them he had a lisp too. Will I have one when I get them off?

Once the braces are removed your lisp should disappear, but how long the braces still have to stay in your mouth is entirely up to your orthodontist. In some adults this part can be forever...
