A fire hose held near the ground shoots water at a speed of 5.0 m/s.
At what angle(s) should the nozzle point in order that the water lands 2.0m away?

1. Let the angle be theta, \theta

2. Find the vertical and horizontal components of the velocity of the water in terms of theta.

3. Use v = u + at to get the time the water takes to fall back to the ground, where v = -u, and t is in terms of theta.

4. Use s = ut for the horizontal displacement, using s = 2.0 m, u as the horizontal component and t as the time you got in step 3 above. Solve for theta.
