My doctor sent me a letter stating that she will be testing me for gestational diabetes at my next visit I am going to be 20weeks and 3 days. Is that normal that they test me at this time for gestational diabetes or do they think I am at a higher risk I am overweight but did not have it with eather of my children And diabetes does not run in the family at all. Also I only gained 5 pounds so far and Im 4 1/2 months pregnant. Please help me thanks

Testing for gestational diabetes is done on every pregnant woman. Your doctor is doing the right thing.

Do these tests during pregnancy is wise. Not only for their children for mother body consider consideration.
I wish you all good.

I know they are done on all pregnant women. As I said I had two children prior to this one and I could almost swear it was done later in my pregnancy then 20w 3d is having it done at 20w 3d the nornal time to do it around?

I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood.
But yes, it is a little early at 20w. It's usually done around 24-28 weeks.
